Fiber optical cable
Fiber Optic Cables (FOCs) - This type of cable transfers data via optical fibres. Its properties allow for data to be transferred over long distances with minimal interference and data loss.
Fiber optic cables are used in all modern telecommunication networks. The cable can be utilized in both transcontinental networks as well as home networks. Secure transfer of information, as well as a host of other advantages have made this cable ubiquitous in the telecommunications industry.

Types of FOCs:
- Single-mode optical cables:
This type of fiber optic cable is characterized by its relatively small core diameter as well as a long range of signal, which can operate for up to 50km. This cable is used in telephone lines and other personal networks. - Multi-mode optical cables:
The core of this type of cable is relatively large in comparison to other types of optical cable. It can transfer signals of different wavelengths and its mainly used in computer network. Signal loss occurs significantly faster in this type of cable, and its operational range does not commonly exceed more than 1km.
