COD - Corrugated Optical Duct
What is COD?
Corrugated Optical Ducts (COD) consist of inner channels and an outer pipe. Its size and the number of internal channels can be specified and manufactured to the customers requirements.
- HDPE - High Density Polyethylene
- High Density Polyethylene has a high strength and cannot be compressed. Over the last 10 years, CODs have been approved and applied by various telecommunication companies around the world: KT (Korea Telecom), STC (Saudi Arabia), NTT (Japan), CDC (Taiwan), PT (Indonesia), Telkom (South Africa), ICE (Costa Rica), Algerie Telecom, etc.
ADVANTAGES OF CODs
- Reduced installation costs- 30-50% less in comparison to conventional duct systems(PVC Pipe+Inner Duct)
- Can be installed in narrow areas
- A conventional trench is not required (1м width and 1,2м depth) → can be made to 20sm ~ 30sm width and 50sm depth
- Quick installation
- Normal excavator istallation of CODs: 1000 m/day
- Automatic excavator: 3000 m/day
- Installation term: Faster than conventional systems by 30m/day - No between manholes are not required
- Manhole can carry on for 500-1000 meters without connection
- No requirement for connection at curved areas.
- Due to the characteristics HDPE, CODs have a very high resistance against outer shock and pressure.
- Ribbed shell design allows for a long lifespan and guarantees high strength for 50 years from the moment of installation;
- Multi Channeled:
From 2-9 inner channels. - Availability of returnable usage;
- CODs are used to protect fiber optic cables, electronic communication cables, power cables, control cables, telecommunication cables, coaxial cables etc.
- Easy installation.
Manual: 250m ~ 500m / day
Via Airblowing machine: 2000 m/day
