Power cable with PVC insulation (copper)
Vinyl-insulated cables are most often used for intrabuilding pads as ordinary PVC is not resistant to low temperatures and direct sunlight. However, special modifications are made of PVC insulation that is resistant to these effects. For example, cables labeled"ХЛ" (ВВГ-ХЛ, ВВГнг-ХЛ, ВВГЭнг-ХЛ) able to withstand ambient temperatures up to -60 degrees. The cable can be made resistant to solar radiation by laying inside plastic, metal or corrugated pipes. There are also options for flame resistant cables, which are marked with the index "нг".This type of cable is insulated with fire-retardant plastic with a high melting point.(ВВГнг, ВВГЭнг, ВВГнг-ХЛ). Cables with low smoke emission gas are marked "LS"(ВВГнг-LS, ВВГЭнг-LS).
Fire resistance is provided by insulating the conductor with a shell composed of mica, which prevents the wires from crossing or making contact in the event that the rest of the insulation is burned. Cables with such traits are marked with the index "FrLs" (ВВГнг-FRLS, ВВГЭнг-FRLS).
