Power cable with XLPE insulation (aluminium)
Cables with XLPE insulation have a lot of advantages:
- Increased conductivity is made possible by increasing the allowable temperature of the cable core. Thus, making the allowable current load higher than its paper insulated counterpart by approximately 15-30%;
- There is no need for additional metal sheath, since the material itself provides sufficient resistance to moisture;
- It provides a much higher thermal stability in the events of a short-circuit;
- Reduced dielectric loss and increased electrical insulating properties;
- Permissible bending radius is reduced;
- No preheating is required when laying cables at low temperatures (down to -20C);
- In cable structures with any difference in the cables have no restrictions;
- Cable with XLPE insulation have lower weight and dimensions.
